Physical exercise is very important for a healthy and balanced life 💪. While for me the spiritual life comes first, it is through my relationship with God that I receive the strength and energy to take care of my body and to exercise.

Our bodies were designed to move 🏃‍♂️. Daily physical activity helps keep the body strong, improves mood, reduces stress, and increases energy.

I believe it is important to dedicate time every day to physical exercise. Even 30–60 minutes a day can improve physical health, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing 🧠✨.

Taking care of the body is also a way of stewarding the life and strength God has given us 🙏. Making exercise part of a daily routine is a powerful investment in long-term health and wellbeing.

In January 2026, I founded Anakai Medical Practice with a clear vision to provide ethical, compassionate, and evidence-based addiction care in Cape Town. As an addiction doctor in Cape Town, my focus is on treating addiction as a medical condition, offering structured clinical support to individuals and collaborating closely with treatment facilities to ensure continuity of care. Anakai Medical Practice was established to create a space where patients are met with dignity, discretion, and sound medical practice, supporting long-term stability, recovery, and overall well-being.

I believe that lifestyle modification is a cornerstone of general health, not an optional extra. Our daily habits, how we move, eat, rest, and connect have a profound impact on both physical and mental well-being. True health is built outside the consultation room as much as within it, and small, consistent changes in lifestyle often create the foundation for lasting improvement in energy, mood, and resilience.

This is especially true in the management of addictive disorders and substance use disorder. Medical treatment is important, but recovery is strengthened when the body and mind are supported through healthy routines. Regular physical activity, cardiovascular fitness, time spent outdoors in the sun to support natural vitamin D levels, and structured daily rhythms all play a meaningful role in stabilising mood, reducing cravings, and improving overall functioning. These elements help restore balance and reinforce the body’s natural capacity to heal.

Equally important are relationships and social connection. Meaningful friendships, supportive family dynamics, and healthy community engagement contribute significantly to long-term recovery and well-being. Whether it is walking, playing golf, exercising, or simply spending time with others, these activities reconnect us to purpose and belonging. My approach is to care for the whole person body, mind, and lifestyle, because sustainable health is not achieved through medication alone, but through intentional, well-supported living.

Diet is a very important part of a healthy life. What we eat fuels our bodies, affects our energy levels, and supports our overall wellbeing. Eating nourishing foods like vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, healthy fats, and whole grains helps the body function properly. Good nutrition supports the immune system, improves concentration, and gives the body the strength it needs for daily life and physical exercise. Simply put, the food we eat each day plays a big role in how we feel and how our bodies perform. 🍎💪

At the same time, healthy eating is about balance, not perfection. Life should be enjoyed, and food is part of that joy. Having a piece of cake at a celebration or enjoying your favourite dessert once in a while is completely okay. The goal is not strict rules, but healthy habits most of the time. Eat well, nourish your body, and enjoy treats in moderation. After all, life is about balance — cake or death? We choose cake… just not every day. 🎂🙂

It has also been my experience that when I focus first on the spiritual side of life, the rest often follows naturally. When my spiritual life is healthy — through prayer, reflection, and staying connected to God — it becomes easier to care for my body and make better choices with exercise and diet. In many ways, the spiritual foundation guides the mental and physical aspects of life, helping bring everything into balance. 🙏✨

Protein Factory is absolutely delicious and consistently delivers high-quality, satisfying meals that taste as good as they are nutritious. Every bite feels fresh, well-prepared, and thoughtfully put together. I would highly recommend Protein Factory to anyone looking for a healthy option that doesn’t compromise on flavor.
